Is your label on the homepage of your website? A bottle shot? You would be surprised how many wineries fail to put the basic images of their brand front and center in front of their customers. The importance of imagery and graphics is something that should be addressed in all aspects of marketing, especially in online marketing, where it is easy to get your images out and in front of key consumers.
With so many different brands out in the market competing for shelf space in the retail market, label and brand recognition is key when consumers are choosing a wine for dinner or that special occasion in their local stores. So how important is that on the web? Some of my clients have claimed that they are not widely distributed enough to worry about brand recognition in the retail market without realizing that it also impacts the online consumer. People need to feel comfortable with your product – the more they see it and can identify with it, the more likely they are to trust you and purchase it. If they are fan of your brand, they will view you online (and most probably before they see your wine on the shelves in the store) - on your website, Facebook, Twitter and a myriad of other sources. Make sure you are properly represented in your brand with appropriate and consistent imagery.
If you make and sell wine, then tell people. As lovely as a vineyard shot maybe, make sure you add that important bottle shot as well – as they say, “a picture is worth a thousand words”!
